A while back my wife and I attended Dave Ramsey’s practical, financial training course, Financial Peace University. I appreciate learning smart new ways of thinking and wise financial strategies and I’ve studied several similar programs.
The greatest truth about learning I’ve come to know is that "knowing" is not the same as "doing"—the two are distinct and separate. Perhaps like myself you’ve been an excellent student but not so great implementing your knowledge with discipline and focused action. Without directed action, knowledge is wasted.
Albert Einstein said that insanity is “doing the same thing yet expecting different results.” Tony Robbins explains it this way: “if you always do what you’ve always done you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” I say, if you always do what you’ve always done—you’re done!
It’s only logical, if we continue to move in the direction of our past bad habits, we’re destined for massive disappointment. As has also been said, “nothing changes until we change.” Change is inevitable, and if we want to achieve great things we must learn to embrace and initiate positive change.
In the area of finances, we can not expect to get out of debt and live the lifestyle we fascinate over if we keep managing our money poorly. Poor money management makes and keeps us poor.
It is time to change!
